SPACE 242 proudly announces its fourth exhibition of 2008, DEVOTED BEE: DRAWINGS TO BRING US TOGETHER, featuring illustrations, paintings, and screen printings by Chad Walker. The opening reception, Friday, April 25, runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Boston’s South End, 242 E. Berkeley Street, 2nd floor (Between Albany Street and Harrison Avenue), Boston. The artist will be present and artwork on view is also for sale.

Walker’s drawings are created with a combination of pen and ink, watercolor, and digital production, and are inspired by his favorite comics and stories including Archie, the Peanuts, and Shel Silverstein books. A self-taught artist, his work is also inspired by music and the writings and poems by Kobayashi Issa and Yosa Buson, and many classic Buddhist writings. According to Walker “my drawings are sometimes shaped by daily life and experiences, while other times they are escapes from the world around.”

Mr. Walker has exhibited his work in Boston, Providence, New Haven, Baltimore, and Richmond. He resides in Connecticut.

Devoted Bee: Drawings To Bring Us Together is sponsored in part by The Weekly Dig, ArtScope Magazine, Olecito, Trago Tequila, and Negro Modelo.

Boston Underground Film Festival (BUFF) will show short independent film in the mini theatre.
