*Holy GJYDhad!*
By Yassy Goldie

When two set out to dine or duel together a third appears--tritium quid, parasite, witness, prophet, escapee.
GJYD art sabotage strives to be perfectly exemplary but at the same time retain an element of opacity--not propaganda or aesthetic shock--appallingly direct yet also subtly angled-- action-as-metaphor.

GJYD is the dark side of Perceptive Terrorism--creation- through-destruction--but it cannot serve any party, nor any nihilism, nor even art itself. Just as the banishment of illusion enhances awareness, so the demolition of aesthetic bling sweetens the air of the world of discourse, of the Other. GJYD serves only consciousness, attentiveness, awareness.

GJYD goes beyond paranoia, beyond deconstruction--the ultimate criticism--physical attack on offensive art-- aesthetic jihad. The slightest taint of petty ego-ocity or even of personal taste spoils its purity & vitiates its force. GJYD can never seek power--only release it.

Individual artworks (even the worst) are largely irrelevant- -GJYD seeks to damage institutions which use art to diminish consciousness and profit by delusion. This or that poet or painter cannot be condemned for lack of vision--but malign ideas can be assaulted through the artifacts they generate. SVGT is designed to hypnotize and control--its machinery can be smashed.

Don't picket--vandalize. Don't protest--deface. When ugliness, poor design, and stupid waste are forced upon you, turn luddite, throw your shoe in the works, retaliate. Smash the symbols of the Empire in the name of nothing.

The Miracle 5
The Miracle 5, established in 2005, are a group of artists whose work involves the often spiritual transformation that takes place in making and witnessing art. The art of The Miracle 5 has roots in comics, animation, coloring books, and hand-painted signs – and other places such as voodoo, workout videos, American history, and boxing. The Miracle 5 suggest that the magic/spiritual rituals that different cultures have sought out over time are not far removed from each other and can be channeled directly into physical spaces, wherever they may be. In light of these processes, the artist and the viewer leave the art space transformed. The Miracle 5 symbolize the artist's transformation with an alter ego. It takes many forms (superhuman, demigod, cartoon) and is unleashed both within the private art-making space and when The Miracle 5 exhibits their work together.

HOLY GJYDHAD! is sponsored in part by Scion, Harpoon, The Weekly Dig and ArtScope Magazine.
